Featherweight Grimnir 2Vi Mips Helmet blends carbon strength, dialed fit, and ventilation

What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"I’ve rotated the Grimnir 2Vi Mips Helmet into storm and bluebird days, and the carbon shell-to-weight ratio is noticeable the moment it’s on. The Occigrip dial locks in a low-profile fit, the fixed vents keep temps in check, and the Mips layer adds confidence when things get rowdy. It runs a touch snug—if you’re between sizes, I’d size up."

We count on the Sweet Protection Grimnir 2Vi Mips Helmet when we want maximum protection without extra bulk. Sweet Protection’s thermoplastic laminated carbon shell keeps weight low yet feels rock solid on the chair, the traverse, and in tight trees. Add in the Mips low-friction layer and multi-impact EPS, and we get advanced protection from both rotational and direct impacts while we chase fresh lines.

Comfort is dialed, too. The Occigrip fit system fine-tunes stability with gloves on, four strategic vents regulate heat on back-to-back laps, and the slim, goggle-compatible silhouette plays nicely with modern frames. Audio-ready ear pads make it easy to add tunes or a comms drop-in for resort days. If you sit near the top of a size range, consider sizing up for the best fit—this lid runs on the snug side.

Exactly what you’d expect for the price

Bought the natural carbon version size l/xl as a replacement for my smith nexus. As nice and safe of a helmet the nexus is, it was heavy, ran big, and aesthetically made me look like a light bulb with the physical size. I bought this in hopes of something lighter and lower profile and it excelled in that aspect. It does run a little small as some reviews explain but being in the smaller side of a l/xl size it fit me like a glove and is by far the most comfortable helmet I’ve worn. I was worried about the ventilation as it doesn’t have nearly as much as the smith nexus and I run hot but it vented any hot air just as good as the nexus surprisingly. Overall a 10/10 high end top off line helmet that’s super comfortable and truly justifies the high price tag.

Wrong sizing

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I only write this to emphasize the other reviews. I went off the sizing chart as well my hat size has always been 7 3/8 which falls in the M/L category. To backcountry’s defense it says runs small size up. I unfortunately had to return the item because it doesn’t fit way too small. Helmet looks great sad to send it back. Definitely size up

Mostly good

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Mostly good. I’ve bopped myself a few times with this on, and I’ve dropped it onto the pavement in the parking lot by accident 2 or 3 times, and it shows no signs of damage. The vents are nice to get some extra circulation and cool things down a bit. The ear flaps are a bit too tight, I have speakers in my flaps and they tend to start chafing my ears after more than 2 hours, so I have to fiddle with the flaps a bit to get them in a position that doesn’t hurt. The boa on the back is a bit flimsy, and it doesn’t hold as reliably as I would like. Overall I’m happy with this helmet, but it could be improved with a few tweaks.

Super light

Nice helmet . The magnetic chin buckles works great. The ear pads are comfortable and have space for audio if you’re into that. The lack of a brim is important to me because I like to pop my goggles up when I’m in line if it’s not to sunny. The adjuster for fit works well . I have Anon M4 goggles and there is no gap. Usually I wear a large but these helmets run a little small so I ordered the L-XL and it fits perfectly with a balaclava. The lack of a huge logo on it is also nice. Didn’t get a goat sticker but I can’t really knock off a star for that.
