"These shorts are my go-to for everything—beach walks, quick swims, running errands. The short inseam and flowy fabric are super comfortable, and they dry crazy fast."

Summer demands gear that transitions seamlessly between activities, so we designed the Patagonia Barely Baggies 2.5in Short to excel whether we're hiking coastal trails or cooling off in alpine lakes. My go to shorts!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These have become my go to shorts! Perfect blend of everyday short that I can hike with or meet up with friends for lunch. These and the 5” version are all I buy. Ow.

Runs a bit small

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These run a tad small in the color I bought. I have read that sizes are a little inconsistent between colors, and maybe that is the case. The rise is shorter, feels more comfortable to wear a bit below the belly, however the waistband is a little tight for that. I might try to size up and see how it fits. XS is my usual size in Patagonia.

Sizing is completely different

I bought the same style, different color, earlier this year and the shorts from back country are way bigger.

Light airy short. Love them!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

These shorts are comfy, lightweight, and quick drying. I sometimes wear them over my swimsuit bottoms. They dry fast when they get wet. The mesh pockets are great and drain well. A loop in one pocket is very convenient for attaching a key. The 2.5 inch inseam and leg side splits give mobility and the waistband is comfortable and stretchy. They are perfect for swimming, hiking, and relaxing. Great everyday short.

Weird Fit

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The way the seams ride up on the behind make these shorts impossible for anyone with a butt to wear. Standing up straight, theyre fine. But once you start walking theyre awful. Sitting down they ride up into all your crevasses. 0/10

Small - Not Typical Patagonia Sizing

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I have a mint pair of these exact shorts, and they fit totally differently. My shorts I already own are size L, 2.5" and fit me like a glove. I ordered red L 2.5" shorts from backcountry and they are a solid 2" larger on the waistband and very stiff, not soft. I am disappointed in these shorts.

Meh

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I'm actually kind of disappointed in these. There's zero stretch to this short, even in the waistband. Pulling them off and on is more of a struggle than it should be. I wear a 28 jean and bought a medium in this short and it's TIGHT. Beyond that, it's a great-if-not-a-little-stiff fabric and well-constructed. I expect that it'll last years and I'm hoping to break them in as I wash them. I just wish that it was slightly stretchy and more comfy. If stretchy and comfy is what you're looking for, this isn't it.
